While most of my friends in Pro-Life & Conservative circles will disagree with me, I support the "Death With Dignity" Movement in this Country. Whether it's called euthanasia, or
medically assisted suicide or "palliative sedation" or VSED (Voluntary Stopping of Eating and Drinking) I support it for myself & anyone else who is of sound mind and no longer
wishes to endure the pain or indignity of failing health due to the normal aging process or chronic illness. The California State Assembly has taken the first step toward passing
legislation that would make it legal for a person to make that decision for him or her self while removing the risk if criminal prosecution from the assisting medical personnel.

As a matter of fact I go even further. Having been in the medical field for the past quarter century & in the field of human services for over 30 years, it is my opinion that many
doctors give false hope to our elderly parents & grandparents that they can have a good quality of life if they just have this heart operation or that procedure (like chemotherapy or dialysis) to extend their life. When in most cases, that I have personally observed,
the exact opposite is true. If I can't have a good quality of life in my "golden years", I don't want to live. If I ever have to be a burden to my children I don't want to suffer the indignity of being placed in a nursing home. If Alzheimers or Parkinsons Disease, Stroke or Cancer
are to affect my future health, I want the option to avoid the indignity of having one of my children or worse, some ungrateful teenager or "20 to 30 Something" overworked & underpaid nursing home staffer changing my diaper or wiping my drooling oatmeal off my chin. Many of our elderly
suffer these indignities daily, silently praying for death while medical science keeps them alive.

don't allow medical science to BS you into being another one of their "guinea pigs" in their constant search for a 'fountain of youth' and
conquest of death. In other words, that which only the Creator of Life can give, namely 'eternal life'.
